I Almost Said No to This School... Here's Why

, by Megan O'Connell, 2 min reading time

When a PTA reached out with an incredibly tight deadline, our first instinct was to say no. Here's how one conversation changed everything—and why finding the right solution is more important than simply taking an order.

When the email came through, I stared at it for a minute.

It was from a PTA looking for spirit wear, and on paper, it sounded like an amazing opportunity.

But there was one problem...

The timeline.

They needed everything designed, approved, produced, and delivered much faster than we normally recommend.

My first instinct was to say no.

As a small business, every order has our name on it. If we can't do something well, we'd rather be honest than overpromise.

So instead of saying yes right away, I asked a few more questions.

We Learned Their Story

As we talked, I realized this wasn't a school that had planned late.

Life had simply happened.

Their volunteers had been juggling jobs, kids, meetings, sports, and everything else that comes with running a PTA. Before they knew it, the deadline was only weeks away.

I think we've all been there.

That's when I stopped looking at it as "just another order."

I saw a group of volunteers doing their best for their school.

We Made a Plan

Instead of trying to offer every product under the sun, we simplified the collection.

We focused on one great design.

One shirt color.

A streamlined approval process.

That allowed us to move quickly without sacrificing quality.

Sometimes the best solution isn't doing more—it's doing the right things really well.

The Best Part

A few weeks later, I received photos from the school.

Students were smiling.

Teachers were matching.

Parents were proudly wearing their new shirts.

The volunteers were relieved that everything came together.

That's when I knew I was glad I didn't say no.

Why We Share This Story

We know that planning school fundraisers isn't easy.

PTA and PTO volunteers are balancing families, careers, meetings, and a long list of responsibilities—all while trying to create something special for their school.

We see the work you put in, and we appreciate it.

Our goal isn't just to print shirts.

It's to help make your job a little easier.

Thinking You're Too Late?

If you're worried you've missed your deadline, don't assume it's too late.

Reach out.

While we can't promise every timeline can be met, we'll always be honest about what's possible, and if we can make it work, we'll do everything we can to help.

Sometimes all it takes is a simple plan, good communication, and a team that's willing to find a solution together.

And sometimes, the order you almost said "no" to becomes one you'll never forget.
